Physics - High School

Experiments are conducted at home

This class is designed primarily for high school students who have completed Algebra and Geometry. Students who have not completed these topics may be unable to complete all of the coursework.

Each monthly class will include instruction in the major topics of physics.  The course will teach the following topics of physics with experiments primarily based on sports, recreation, and games:  Motion, Measurement, Forces, Energy, Waves, Matter, Relativity, Nuclear & Particle Physics, Astrophysics, and Quantum Ideas.

Students will perform the month’s experiments at home, record the results of their experiments in a lab report to the instructor, and will have directed readings and other activities to teach each concept.  We will discuss our experimental results and the applicable principles of physics one day each month.

Families are responsible for providing needed materials. A list of supplies needed for the class can be viewed under Class Materials. Most are common materials that are already in a normal household, but some items may need to be purchased.

This class will be conducted via Google Classroom from August to May. Semester options are available; inquire for more information.

2024-5 classes begin August 26.
