Legendary!: Middle School
Studying folklore leads to greater understanding of other cultures - and of ourselves!
This class is designed primarily for middle school students (6th – 8th grade).
In this literature class, students will study folk tales, fables, tall tales, fairy tales, legends, memorates, and myths from around the world, focusing on a different geographic region each month.
Students will receive instruction in types and characteristics of oral tradition literature and will study the role it plays in cultures around the world, both historically and in the present day. After completing assigned reading, each student will answer study questions on the readings and will choose a project to complete and post to the class stream (I will provide a wide variety of ideas for projects). They will then have a couple of days to engage in courteous discussion and feedback on each other’s projects.
This class will be conducted via Google Classroom from August to May. Semester options are available; inquire for more information.
2024-5 classes begin August 26.
