U.S. History – High School

“Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”

- Winston Churchill

This class is designed primarily for high school students. Younger students may be allowed with permission of instructor.

Each monthly class will include study of a particular time period of American history, including timelines, maps, general questions, research on a chosen individual topic, and review/discussion of homework. The students are expected to complete their research and prepare a short presentation of their individual topic study. Lastly, students will comment on each other’s presentations and together we will build an overall picture of life during each time period.

The individual topics have a range of possibilities, including ”Fashion,” "Government & Politics," "Science," “Food,” "Notable People," “Society & Culture,” "Art," “Cultural Issues,” and more.

This class will be conducted via Google Classroom from August to May. Semester options are available; inquire for more information.

2024-5 classes begin August 26.

Note #1: This class coordinates with American Literature, but each is also a stand-alone course.
