Consumables

  • Aluminum foil

  • Black construction paper

  • Duct tape

  • Nail polish, clear

  • Notecard

  • Paper or styrofoam cups

  • Paper towels

  • String

  • Tin foil pan

  • Toothpicks

  • Wax paper

Food items

  • Gelatin packet

  • Milk, 1 cup

  • Mini-marshmallows

  • Swedish Fish

  • Water

Other

  • Box (square or round – a Pringles can or oatmeal container work well)

  • Bright light source (the sun works well!)

  • Calculator

  • Car & driver

  • Clear container ( a glass, a jar, or a fish tank would work, with no fish!)

  • Flashlight

  • Glass

  • Kabob spears (available at most supermarkets)

  • Marker

  • Microwave

  • Microwave safe dish at least 5-6 inches across (bigger is better)

  • Nail or thumbtack to make a hole

  • Plastic container (rectangular, transparent)

  • Pot

  • Quiet stretch of road

  • Recording device (phone is fine)

  • Ruler

  • Scissors or sharp knife

  • Slinky toy (regular size and the longest you can find)

  • Stove

 

Note:  Most supplies can be shared if you have more than one student working as lab partners for the experiments.
