Culinary Chemistry

Supply Lists

This class requires access to a kitchen and an adult supervisor at home if the student is unfamiliar with use of stove and oven, following directions, and general kitchen safety practices.

Families are responsible for providing needed materials. Most are common materials that are already in a normal household kitchen, but some items will need to be ordered. Contact the instructor for alternative experiments if students have any allergies.

There are two (optional) suggested text resources to accompany this course. Either is sufficient; there is no need to purchase both. The content is comparable, so you should choose the format that appeals to your student.

“The kitchen's a laboratory, and everything that happens there has to do with science. It's biology, chemistry, physics. Yes, there's history. Yes, there's artistry. Yes, to all of that. But what happened there, what actually happens to the food is all science.”
